Health Team Blog 3

There is normally a health blog produced at this time of the term. But I really wanted to share with you the work that went on school during our science and eco week.

Before the half term, we dedicated a whole week to science and ecology. Every year group was given a different focus. It was perfect timing for year 3 as, having done Flow as a topic, they investigated polluted rivers, focusing on the River Cole. If you look at our YouTube channel you will see the fantastic news reports the children produced.

Year 4 look at recycling and carried out a science investigation into evaporation, they explained it beautifully and used some excellent science vocabulary.

Year 5 looked at plants; their lifecycle, structure and how and they disperse their seeds. They also looked at how the Amazon rainforest is being destroyed and what we can do to save it.

Year 6 then finished with an amazing finale. A wonderful ‘trashion’ show, with some outfits that wouldn’t look out of place on the catwalks of Milan, and then a truly memorable Eco song, performed by 6D. This song is on our YouTube site and is well worth a watch, it really sends the message about how, as a school, we feel about our planet.

It was an amazing week and the children have learnt so much. I am already having thoughts about next year’s week!
