Health Team Blog 2
Welcome to the 2nd blog from the health team.
We have had a busy term as we prepare for the packed lunch policy to launch next year.
The health team spent an hour with Gemma from FoodNet where we looked at healthy choices for our lunch box and also the variety of foods that could be in our packed lunch that would still make it healthy. Things like cold pasta salad to left over curry.
They were then able to create a healthy lunch box that covered all of the food groups and even included a little treat.
Thank you to everyone who returned the questionnaire about the lunch boxes. Being a parent myself I know how easy it can be to give your child the same lunch every day and ensure it is healthy, so it was nice to see some parents also mentioning how they would like their children to eat more fruit and veg but found it difficult to make them.
With the launch of the packed lunch policy we will also run packed lunch workshops and distribute leaflets which should give you lots of new and exciting ideas for lunches as well.
Look out the for the termly newsletter which will contain more updates about the Health Team in school and on the back you will find some healthy recipes, which have been made in school by parents and taste tested by children. Tweet us and let us know if you try them.
Of course we would love to hear you packed lunch ideas too so please let us know your methods for keeping those meal times healthy.

Welcome to the Birmingham Local Offer for Special Educational Needs (SEN).
To enter our Local Offer pages click here
We want to develop Birmingham as an inclusive city with a fair chance for all. Our focus is on children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities aged 0-25 years making progress with learning and being prepared for adulthood.
This SEN Local Offer should enable children and young people to have fairer access and opportunities to move towards long term aspirations of employment; finding somewhere to live; participating in society and good health.
How will it help? The Local Offer will:
• Make it easier to find out what you need to know
• Help you to be less dependent on other people or word of mouth
• Help you to find the nearest and most suitable services
• Help you to ask the right questions
• Help you to provide feedback about what is needed, raise concerns or make a complaint
We have built this SEN Local Offer website with parents, families and young people and there is a clear expectation that it will develop and improve over the next 3 years as we put in place the SEN Reforms
